Jiggers
One of the wildest experiments I've ever done was a test from Death and Company, the OG cocktail bar in NYC (to be clear this is NOT the John Mayer cover band). You make a daiquiri using variable amounts of simple syrup. Prepare it three ways - with 1/4 oz too much, 1/4 oz too little, and then the with perfect proportion, written below for your convenience.

The difference in taste is hard to describe in words. The perfectly balanced cocktail allows you to taste everything individually, nothing overshadows it's counterpart. The sum is greater than the parts and it's perfect. Therefore having correct proportion in cocktails is extremely important.

This two-sided Japanese-style jigger below is all stainless, and it's the interior allows you to measure anything from 1/4oz to 2oz. Plus they look great sitting on top of your bar next to your Uncle's old decanter.
